Creative coloring techniques
Shadows and lights: To make your elephant look more real, use different shades of gray. Places where the sun shines on the elephant can be lighter, and areas under its body, where light doesn’t reach as much, can be darker. This will give volume to your drawing.
Adding texture: The skin of a young elephant is unique; it’s wrinkled and quite rough. You can use a colored pencil to make small lines and dots, imitating this texture. This will make your elephant seem like it could move.
Complementary materials
Colored Paper: If you want your young elephant to really stand out, consider using colored paper instead of white paper. This can add a surprising effect and make your drawing even more unique.
Stickers and Glitter: To give it a special touch, you can add stickers of stars or dots. A little glitter on the ears or trunk can make your young elephant sparkle.
Fun facts about Elephants
Did you know elephants can recognize themselves in a mirror? This shows how intelligent they are. While coloring, think about how your elephant would see itself in a mirror and what it would think about its colorful reflection.
Elephants use mud as sunscreen. After coloring, you might draw some mud splashing on its skin. This is not only fun but also reminds you to take care of your young elephant under the sun.
