How to color a Gorilla:

Fur: Most of them have jet black, rough, short fur as if they were wearing a furry coat. You can use different shades of black to give it texture and depth. On their hands, feet, and faces, the fur is shorter and lighter, almost as if they were wearing gloves and a mask. Start with a base tone of grey or soft black and use darker tones to add depth and texture, especially in areas like the back and arms, where the fur is denser.

Face: Gorillas have an expressive face, with small, sunken eyes, a wide nose, and a large mouth. Their eyes can be brown or hazel, and their nose can be black or brown. A gorilla’s face is lighter, often with a greyish or light brown tone. Pay special attention to the eyes, giving them expressiveness with a bit of white and black for the pupils, showing the intelligence and emotion that characterize these beings.

Hands and Feet: Look at their hands and feet, they’re huge! They’re like our hands, but bigger and stronger. Their fingers are long and curved, perfect for climbing trees. You can use colors like brown, grey, or even a touch of pink for the palms and soles.

About Gorillas:

  • Habitat: They live in the tropical rainforests of Central Africa, where there are many trees to climb and food to eat. Imagine a place full of green plants, rushing rivers, and incredible sounds. They are terrestrial animals that prefer forested and mountainous areas.
  • Diet: They are primarily herbivores, feeding on leaves, stems, fruits, and occasionally some insects, which you can reflect by coloring their environment with a variety of vegetation.
  • Predators: Adult gorillas have few natural predators, but leopards and humans can pose a threat, especially to the young.

Curiosities:

  • Family: They live in family groups led by a dominant male, known as the “silverback” due to the distinctive silver fur he develops on his back as he matures.
  • Communication: They use a complex variety of sounds, gestures, and expressions to communicate within their group, something you can try to capture with the expression of your gorilla when coloring.
  • Intelligence: Gorillas have shown great capacity for learning and using tools in the wild and captivity.

The largest gorilla in the world reached a height of over 2 meters and weighed over 200 kilos!
They are the strongest primates on the planet, capable of lifting up to 10 times their weight!
They are endangered animals. Less than 100,000 gorillas are living in the wild.
